Judging from modern history, the damage done by Japan to China is extremely serious and indelible. In the Sino-Japanese War, Japan defeated the navy of the Qing Dynasty and annexed the island of Taiwan, which was an important step in Japan's invasion of China.
Subsequently, during the War of Resistance against Japan from 1931 to 1945, Japan's acts of aggression were even more heinous. They burned and looted on Chinese soil, killing thousands of Chinese people in every city they occupied.
Japan also committed genocide in the course of its aggression, trying to wipe out Chinese culture and prevent the Chinese from revolting with vengeance. There are similarities between their behavior and what the Nazis did to the Jews in Europe, and this trampling on the culture and lives of a people is a wound that the Chinese people cannot forget.
