Christianity is not the mainstream of society in China, it is not a positive element of society recognized and appreciated by the Government, and it is even rejected to a certain extent by Chinese culture, but it is not an illegal organization legally, it is not counter-revolutionary politically, and it is not a cult religiously. Successive Chinese governments have never supported or encouraged Christianity, but neither have they banned it. The Chinese Constitution allows freedom of belief, and Christianity is recognized as a formal religion by the Chinese people, but there is always something about joining a Christian organization and participating in Christian activities that makes people feel unsettled. |
