On March 17, 1922, the Yao Hua Machine-Made Glass Company officially started construction in Qinhuangdao. After two years and five months of work, the first kiln was completed and went into production in August 1924, with the first glass produced on September 15. Yao Hua became the first factory in China and Asia to use the "Falk Method" for glass manufacturing.

Looking back, it’s amazing to think about how, 100 years ago, the first piece of machine-made flat glass was created at Yao Hua. The preliminary work began in October 1921, and it was determined that Qinhuangdao had the right conditions for building the factory in terms of transportation, water, electricity, raw materials, and geological conditions. The factory site was chosen south of the Qinhuangdao train station, between the station and the Kailuan dock.

In December 1921, an agreement was signed with Belgium in Tianjin to introduce patented technology, which included construction designs. By January 1922, 132 technical drawings and documents for the "Falk Method" were shipped from Belgium to the Tianjin company. The key part of the patented technology was the melting system, with the entire kiln shaped like a "T." It measured 28,000 millimeters long and 5,500 millimeters wide, featuring five small furnaces and eight feeding machines arranged in a line, designed to produce 150,000 standard boxes of flat glass annually.

On March 7, 1922, construction began on a dedicated railway line from the Qinhuangdao dock to the factory, along with site surveying and leveling work. The project included sections for hot glass, cold glass, and auxiliary engineering.

After the No.1 kiln built with the patent of “Focker method” was put into production, the glass in China jumped into the ranks of mass production using advanced technology and equipment, and the products not only sold well all over the country, but also entered the international market.

After the listing of Yaohua glass, the glass dealers all over the world generally reflected that Yaohua glass was “beautiful in color, fair in weight and perfect in packing”, and the transportation distance was short in China, with less breakage, and the marketing was quite smooth. The birth of China's glass enterprise adopting the patented technology of Focker's method of production aroused worldwide attention, and foreign newspapers at that time made several special reports on it, saying that “the application of Focker's method of technology marked the beginning of a new era in China's glass industry”.

Since 1978, 12 consecutive years of product quality sampling and evaluation of flat glass enterprises, Yaohua glass for 12 consecutive years, the first evaluation. 1984 set up a research group, began to develop the body coloring heat-absorbing glass.

In May 1985, it formed mass production in slotless kiln and produced the first piece of teal-colored heat-absorbing glass in China.

Since then, it has produced teal glass and various colors of propriety tinted glass by float technology, and at the end of 1991, the State Council identified Yaohua as one of the 55 pilot enterprise groups in China after inspection by the State Planning Commission, the Economic and Trade Commission, and the Commission for Reform and Reform of the State Council, and included it in the group of “single-listed plan”, and in the middle and late 90's, Yaohua has changed from producing single flat glass products by vertical lead-up process to producing single flat glass products by float process.In February 2002, “Yaohua” float glass was recognized as the first “Well-known Trademark” of China's flat glass by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce.

In the middle and late 90's, Yew Wah went from producing single flat glass product by vertical lead-up process to producing 102 kinds of products in 6 categories, such as float flat glass, deep-processed glass, glass steel products, etc., and became the largest comprehensive glass production enterprise in China.

In February 2002, “Yaohua” float glass was recognized by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce as the first “Well-known Trademark” for flat glass in China. In addition to its own development, Yaohua has sent more than 500 technical and management backbones to state organs, scientific research units and sister enterprises. Under the leadership of the Party, Yaohua has shown the development path of “from scratch, from small to big, from weak to strong”.
